Position: Sr. WAN Network Engineer

Location: Las Vegas, NV (onsite)

Duration: 6 Months + Contract 

Job Description: 

·         Experience with WAN acceleration deployment/expansion expertise – GLOBAL experience.

·         Knowledge on Wide Area Network (WAN) products (preferred but not required knowledge of Silver Peak).

·         Cisco Certification, i.e. CCIE.

·         Strong knowledge of routing and switching.

·         MPLS – Must have GLOBAL deployment experience.

·         DMVPN.

·         QOS.

·         Lead experience.

Requires strong consulting experience with communication skills who is able to demonstrate not just knowledge of the technology but experience with architecting a global environment.  

 

Priority: Resource must be able to consult across the board and provide ‘spot-check’ expertise across their currently purchased products and standards.

Analyze global MPLS WAN - designed and implemented early 2008.

 

·         Analyze current WAN deployment which has not evolved to support the changing needs.

·         Analyze WAN performance issues at present.

·         Analyze WAN to eliminate recurring issues.

·         Analyze the tuning and support of the WAN to optimize the environment.

·         Analyze large files to transfer between US, Australia, and India.

·         Analyze current apps not optimized for network bandwidth utilization.

·         Analyze and mirror development center in TX - looked at cost of MPLS vs cost of Internet access (Internet access much cheaper per unit of bandwidth).

·         Analyze voice, video, and file verification services over Internet connection into TX location (DMVPN).

·         Analyze the development location in Argentina, SF and London on utilizing Internet vs MPLS connectivity. 

·         Analyze all Internet connected dev sites to works as well as Austin Development Center.

·         Analyze and establish development site.

·         Analyze current WAN Acceleration options to improve performance.

·         Analyze the implementation of Silverpeak WAN Acceleration products.

·         Analyze and test the implementation and optimization of Silverpeak solution.

·         Analyze the re-purposing of existing MPLS for real time and mission critical services.

·         Must be a leader to implement and optimize network.

·         Must have expertise/experience as a team lead.

·         Analyze and leverage WCCP and VRF.

·         Analyze the physical separation between corp and dev environments, which has Sr. WAN Network Engineer become an admin and operations challenge.

·         Analyze WAN to improve on and optimize performance, operational simplicity, and separation (logical or physical) of corp and dev traffic (possibly using VRF).
