Job Title: Plant Manager

Direct Report: VP, Operations or VP of Manufacturing and Lean Operations

 

Summary:  The Plant Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating and leading manufacturing plants delivering product to market.  This responsibility must be done most efficiently, with lowest cost, acceptable quality, safely, and on-time.   This position provides leadership, development, and direction for their plant employees;

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job.  Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below.  Specific activities may change from time to time.

Provide leadership, mentoring, and evaluations for plant staff;

Propose improvements and changes in procedures to improve quality, safety, service, efficiency, and lead-time;

Maintain a clean and safe plant. Maintain good housekeeping taking plant to a world class level, including waste reduction, reduction in customer returns, and best practices;

Ensure proper staffing levels are in place, while meeting budget requirements;

Ensure proper training is being conducted with staff;

Ensure employee performance reviews are being conducted per guidelines;

Recommend promotions as well as dealing appropriately with employee job performance deficiencies;

Ensure production schedules are reviewed continuously;

Ensure proper notification is taking place in a timely manner with material shortages, quality, safety, and employees issues per guidelines;

Ensure a thorough understanding of quality requirements;

Understand and keep current on technology of plant;

Ensure there are scheduled and conducted production, quality, and safety plant meetings per guidelines;

Ensure all safety, health, and environmental requirements are being administered per guidelines;

Ensure any injury is dealt with immediately in an appropriate manner and reported per guidelines;

Ensure preventative maintenance practices and procedures are being completed per guidelines;

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding any manufacturing process;

Optimize plant operation cost and meet operating budget while improving production yields;

 

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's Degree, generally in Engineering and Ten (10) years of progressively responsible manufacturing management experience desired;

Master's Degree with demonstrated experience, a plus;

Technical background in manufacturing, a plus;

Statistics, accounting and manufacturing fundamental concepts are required;

Thorough Quality and Safety demonstrated knowledge required;

Computer Skills - Office Windows proficiency is required.  Understanding MRP software applications like Solomon or any other is a plus;

Demonstrated leadership, along with strong inter-personal communications skills required;

Valid Drivers' license;
