Client provides brokerage, execution, and clearing services on securities and derivatives exchanges worldwide.  

They are currently seeking a senior developer to design code and test software solutions.

SUMMARY

·         Under general direction, devise or modify procedures resulting in efficient solutions to complex problems associated with computer equipment, capacity, limitations, and performance.

·         Assist Systems or Business Analyst with analysis and design tasks.

·         Responsible for program design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.

·         Support system testing within areas of Quality Assurance and System Assurance as appropriate.

·         Responsible for implementation of application programs into production, including assisting with impact tracking and deployment planning.

·         Regularly provide guidance and training to lower level application developers.

·         Work with Production Support staff to provide, when necessary, real time support. 

·         Participate in code reviews and application transition to support team.

·         Work with management to provide cost estimates for projects, provide input to creating project plans, and to provide input to update project plans throughout the development cycle.

·         Participate in "Lessons Learned" process to provide information to help them choose practices, methodologies, tools, technologies and programming languages.

·         Perform other duties as assigned.

·         Good understanding of business or function for which applications are designed.

·         Ability to work at high technical levels of all system/application development and implementation phases.

·         Knowledge of development lifecycle.

·         Good communication and analytical skills

·         Ability to work effectively with clients, management and staff.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Knowledge of the following required:

·         UNIX – Server: C++, EMACS/VI, JAVA, Shell Scripting, Rogue Wave, CORBA (ORBIX), DB2, SQL, MQSeries, Sun Solaris, Purify and Quantify, SVN.

 EDUCATION

·         Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

·         Five or more years of diverse work experience in Information Technology

·         Minimum of three years experience in application program development utilizing the required skill set.
