DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR – WITH MS SQL SERVER AND SYBASE:

 

Job Duties

·         Provide daily administration and performance monitoring of Database related systems including Performance and Tuning, Maintenance, Monitoring, and Database Security

·         Provide 24 x 7 production support for the various databases

·         Implement and support Database Business Continuity practices including high availability and recovery

·         Work with members of the software development group to develop coding standards and to maintain consistent practices

·         Create and release software deployment builds to the different environments

·         Aid in the support and writing of SQL and Perl written to both monitor and maintain the database and support applications

·         Support the backup and recovery strategy for the different database environments.

·         Provide, assist and participate in the creative process in improving architectural designs and the implementation of new architecture to consistently improve our Database Enterprise for optimal efficiency and cost effectiveness

·         Monitor and proactively support capacity planning and analysis

·         Install and configure new database systems

·         Analyze and perform upgrades to database servers

·         Work with outside vendors to resolve technical issues

·         Work with the server group on capacity planning and server configuration, including cluster environments

·         Create and/or review new physical database objects

·         Work with developers to identify and remedy database bottlenecks

·         Create automated processes to ensure production database integrity

 

Qualifications:

·         Bachelors degree in related discipline or 7 years experience in database administration

·         Minimum of 7+ Years of working with MSSQL server in an administrative role, and experience with Sybase ASE in an administrative role is a plus.

·         Knowledge of NetApp/3PAR/Recovery Manager and SnapMirror a plus.

·         Basic understanding of Unix and Perl

·         ClearCase  and Autosys knowledge highly desirable.

·         Knowledge of data access layers (ODBC, and native Sybase Open Client)

·         Understanding of .NET environment

·         Ability to quickly troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis.

·         Ownership and accountability for production level issues.

·         Leadership in the deployment of world-class IT infrastructure

·         Good communication skills and a team player
