Note:
- Looking for Solution Architects that has enterprise environment background. Do not send project managers, data modelers, operations engineers, designer/developers or software development team managers or other non-architect roles.
- We expect a candidate to have an understanding of an industry architecture framework.
- Must have worked as a solution architect for multiple large-scale IT projects within at least one of these verticals: Retail, Banking/Finance, Healthcare.
- List the artifacts that the candidate created themselves during the engagement.
- Healthcare experience is not essential, but desired
Generally operating in a non-routine and strategic capacity, works with senior management to evaluate existing systems and/or end-user needs to design and recommend an optimal strategic direction for business systems. Conclusions made are objective, logical and based on facts that have been carefully collated and verified. Recommendations, however, are subjective and based on the consultant's background and experience. Knowledgeable of a broad range of healthcare-related business and/or IT concepts, practices, and procedures. May lead and direct the work of others with capabilities to manage very large projects. Frequently reports directly to an executive. Creates value for an organization through the application of knowledge, techniques, and assets to improve business performance. Provides objective appraisals as an expert outsider who provides a broader picture perspective. Typically required to summarize and present findings to executive levels.
Position Description
- The selected candidate will provide overall technical guidance and leadership in a variety of projects involving web, distributed, vendor and mainframe applications.
- Upon approval / funding of a solution, resource will assist with the project implementation by:
- Provide overall technical architecture / design leadership for implementation of the solution
- Assist with Detail system design to a point where implementation can proceed
- Identify and document architecturally significant aspects/views of the systems
- Ensure that the design is consistent with the overall architecture
- Collect, deliver and present any industry best-practices
- Provide rationale for architecture / design decisions
- Balance concerns of competing software quality requirements
- Ensure consistent use of software engineering methodology
- Ensure that significant design decisions are communicated, validated, and adhered to.
- Participate in internal QR review and Architecture Peer Reviews
- Represent the architecture group to senior management, business partners and architectural group
Required Skills/Experience:
- Must be a hands-on Enterprise/Solution Arch – looking for the consultants willing be do the "doer's" and NOT the lead.
- Enterprise Architecture / Governance generating and documenting all EA artifacts including component interfaces, subsystems constraints, test scenarios, external services offered by the application, team structure, and schedule dependencies.
- Some knowledge of company technologies and/or business verticals is expected.
- A wide degree of creativity, independence, and latitude is expected.
- Good facilitator with above average communication skills
- Solid working knowledge of requirements management principles and techniques (e.g. use case)
- Proven experience in translating system architecture to specific design decisions
- Thorough understanding of OOAD and UML
- Practical experience with common modeling and development tools (e.g. Rose, WSAD)
- Familiarity with the technology with which the system will be implemented
- Familiarity with industry best design approaches
- Share a common understanding of software engineering process with the enterprise solution architects.
- Communication skills that earn trust, motivate, persuade, and mentor
- Proactive and goal-oriented with a focus on results
- Practical experience with common architectural patterns and principles
- Proven capability of managing competing priorities
- A professional habit of continuously learning and self-improvement
- Prior healthcare industry experience preferred (e.g. HIPPA Compliance Standards)
- Bachelor's degree in Management of Information
