Job Discription:
Our client is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the Modern Analytics team, which has reporting lines into the CIO/CTO
In this role, the Sr. Engineer will partner closely with leadership, data scientists and business colleagues to develop "Master" datasets in Snowflake.
The data spans all areas of the company, from finance to sales to consumer consumption, and there is a significant opportunity to develop new insights that span across multiple data sources.
This person will also play a key role in architecting data and end-to-end flows that leverage best practices,
recommending new approaches to how data pipelines are developed, and ensuring that the snowflake environment is sound.
The Sr. Engineer will participate in quarterly reviews regarding the set up and security of the environment and data within, and will work closely with management to ensure that operational processes are upheld.  
For this role, candidates should have a background in ETL, data architecture, security/compliance, and data engineering.
Additionally, one should be analytical and an excellent communicator, and also have a business acumen, problem-solving and “can do” aptitude.
 
Skills and Qualifications Requirements
 
Strong experience with Data Lake architectures, both architecturally and with the ability to implement
Strong experience with Snowflake as the primary Data Warehouse toolset, including but not limited to:
Excellent knowledge of SQL
Excellent knowledge of Data Analytics and Data Engineering in the snowflake schema
Knowledge of using and tuning Snowflake’s elasticity controls such as horizontally and vertically scaling virtual databases, copying and/or sharing databases, and optimizing load and query SQL statements
Strong experience using AWS cloud-native data analytics services for storage and ETL/ELT data processing
(Plus) Experience with Python/R for data processing and/or advanced predictive analytics data engineering
Plus) Experience with Tableau or related dashboarding applications
Knowledge on and appreciation for Well-Architected principles – Security, Operational Excellence, Reliability, Performance, Cost Optimization – and how to apply to Data Lake architectures and the related SDLC
Excellent communication skills
Out of the box thinker, problem solver
