Business Analyst - Master Data Management
MANHATTAN , NY
The Senior Business Analyst will be an important member of the Enterprise Information Management (EIM) team and be responsible for working with different functional business and service units to identify and implement enterprise information solutions. He / she will be expected to develop a level of expertise in the business units they support, as well as an understanding of the Business Technology (BT) organization structure, systems and technical capabilities. Assists in the business process redesign and documentation as needed for new technology. Translates high-level business requirements into functional specifications for the BT organization and manages changes to such specifications. Educates the BT organization on the direction of the business. Negotiates agreements and commitments by facilitating communication between business unit(s) and BT from initial requirements to final implementation.
The Senior Business Analyst will focus on the areas of master data management and data governance. He / she understands end-to-end master data processes and flows and can apply that knowledge to design and implement master data management solutions. Provides business process, system support and data quality governance for master data through data coordination and integration to ensure efficient processes and consistent data flows to business and stakeholders. Provides accountability for the assurance of data quality and integrity within master data systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITES
Required Skills:
* Minimum 8 years work experience in a related field. Significant knowledge and experience in managing and executing data management initiatives, including master data management, data governance, warehousing, provisioning and business intelligence.
Strong to expert-level understanding of business process modeling and architecture, entity relationship modeling, data quality, and product management.
Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities, skillful at negotiation, solid team worker, and experienced leader with demonstrated abilities in analysis, problem solving, and facilitation.
Demonstrated ability to complete projects on time and on budget.
Experience with education related data is preferred.
Strong knowledge of SQL and at least one data mining / analytics tools (SAS, SPSS).
Strong knowledge of statistical techniques with the ability to apply the appropriate formulas / methods to a respective problem.
Knowledge of Cognos BI tool components is preferred.
Education/Certifications:* Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant field of work or equivalent work experience.
