Position: Configuration Management Analyst
Location: ATLANTA, GA
Duration: 6 months – with extension likely
The following position is budgeted/approved. Make sure you get the Right to represent for each candidate in case of conflicts.
Here is the information regarding the contract position we are hoping to fill as soon as humanly possible.
This position is for a mid level Configuration Management Analyst on a contract basis.
Configuration Management Analyst
Responsible for creating and maintaining source code libraries with appropriate access controls, defining and monitoring folder structure in repository for multiple development efforts, bundling/configuring builds for development, quality assurance, and production quality software releases, and managing code integration between multiple projects. This position is not expected to have subordinates.
Areas of Responsibility:
From manager: "I need someone who understands best practices from a software configuration management perspective such as version control, build management and automation, etc."
Relationship Management
Accountable for client relationship for external and internal customers and responsible for the following work efforts:
Ø External relationship management related to software configuration vendors, products, installation, and support
Ø Internal relationship management related to software development project teams
Ø Support external project development teams (i.e., architecture, offshore)
Program/Project Management
Responsible for work efforts to achieve the following:
Ø Analyze configuration requirements
Ø Document and communicate configuration management policies to the project team
Ø Maintain Configuration and Change Management plan
Ø Set up configuration libraries with appropriate access controls
Ø Ensure configuration objects for projects are identified and naming conventions/versioning schemes are defined and communicated
Ø Create builds with a high level of accuracy and completeness
Ø Perform merges from different code branches in accordance with the Configuration Management Policies
Ø Meet agreed to deadlines for producing builds and performing merges
Ø Identify risk and issues related to use of configuration libraries
Ø Escalate unresolved issues and audit findings to appropriate management levels
Ø Create, maintain, and execute automated build scripts
System Management
Responsible for:
Ø Ensure routine backup and archival of project repository is in accordance with Configuration Management Policies
Ø Set up, manage, and maintain servers for testing, development, and production environments
Ø Deployment of application / system changes from approved releases to testing, development, and production environments
General
Responsible for the:
Ø Compliance with APG IT approved Software Development Life Cycle policies and procedures
Experience Requirements:
Requirements include but may not be limited to the following:
Ø Solid interpersonal, verbal/written communication, organizational, and planning skills
Ø Experience with software development code libraries and configuration tools
Educational Requirements:
Requirements include but may not be limited to the following:
Ø BS degree in computer related field or equivalent work experience
Ø Certifications related to software development
Technical Skills:
Skills desired include but may not be limited to the following:
Ø Subversion
Ø Windows Server Administration (including IIS)
Ø UNIX / Linux Administration (including JBoss, Tomcat, and Apache)
Ø Ability to read Java code
Ø Ability to read .Net code (C# and VB.Net)
Ø Maven
Ø ANT scripting
Ø Shell Scripting
Ø Windows batch scripting
Ø Visual Studio
Ø InstallShield
Ø PowerBuilder
Ø Delphi
Ø Bugzilla
Ø Perl scripting
Ø VMWare
Here are the specifics we are looking for in the candidates:
Must Have:
Windows Server Administration (including IIS) - must be comfortable
working in a windows environment and supporting / maintaining Windows
servers in a production environment
They have to be willing to be on-call during all hours of the day.
Visual Studio
Ability to read .Net code (C# and VB.Net)
Subversion - must have experience branching / merging / administration
(If they don't have this but have everything else I will still consider
them)
Nice To Have:
UNIX / Linux Administration (including JBoss, Tomcat, and Apache) - must
be comfortable working in a UNIX / Linux environment and supporting /
maintaining UNIX / Linux servers in a production environment
Maven
ANT scripting - experience writing scripts from scratch
shell scripting
Windows batch scripting
InstallShield
PowerBuilder
Delphi
Bugzilla
Ability to read Java code
Perl scripting
VMWare vSphere / vCenter 4
Personality:
We need someone that can stand up for themselves but has good interpersonal communication skills. The candidate also needs to be very personable and professional.
Must be US EAD, US Perm Resident, or US Citizen on this one!
NOTE: Candidates may push back on rate but you need to INFORM them that we are still in a soft economy and we can most likely adjust rate in 6 months from now. They can also bill over 40 hours weekly.
