Duration: 6+ Months

Description:

This is a Business Intelligence /data analyst/ business analyst role. Candidates must have Business Intelligence experience with Cognos 8 BI studios, particularly Query Studio and Report Studio and MUST Understands BI tool architecture

 

Job Responsibilities:

 • Developing business and functional requirements for new business intelligence implementation and subsequent releases and assist in the creation of related estimates

• Participating in business intelligence strategy sessions

• Participating in data normalization and governance exercises

• Serve as primary Cognos subject matter expert across the organization and assist users with adhoc report construction queries
• Ensuring project activity is customer focused, results oriented, performance driven, and in compliance with all applicable internal and external requirements

• Employing analytical, conceptual, and creative thinking skills to improve overall business and systems performance

• Studying, evaluating, and documenting current and future business processes

• Supporting user training, documentation, and rollout

• Supporting overall project management and business strategy related to business intelligence
• Maintaining effective working relationships with organizational team

Specifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Information Technology, or related field of study

• Demonstrated excellence in business writing, development of business process flow diagrams, making comparisons regarding current and future processes, and effective communication of anticipated efficiency gains

• Ability to articulate basic project methodology concepts

• 2+ years experience data normalization or governance

• Ability to analyze entity-relationship diagrams and logical data models to validate design against requirements

• Ability to write SQL code for data profiling and data validation exercises

• Familiarity with Cognos 8 BI studios, particularly Query Studio and Report Studio

• Understands BI tool architecture, functions, features and multi-dimensional database structures

• Hands-on knowledge of relational databases

• Oracle and/or SQL Server knowledge preferred

• Excellent oral and written communication skills for diverse audiences with excellent facilitation skills
