Position Summary:

 

The person in this role will be responsible for developing and executing test cases to verify the functions and maintain quality standards of mobile phone products. The person must have expertise in radio access technologies such as GSM, CDMA, UMTS etc.  An ideal person would be someone with Type Approval experience executing conformance and regulatory test cases. Also required is extensive experience with WAP-push, Device Management (DM) OTA, OMA Client Provisioning (CP) or FOTA/FUMO push solutions using Innopath or mFormation MDM servers. Ability to established familiarity with carrier device requirements as well as executing FOTA/FUMO, WAP Push or Device Management (DM) carrier certified test cases. Require proven and trusted ability to communicate directly with customer as well as driving issues internally to resolution. Must be teachable and able to pick up new areas fast. Strongly desired: previous experience with device and/or web automation tools. An ideal person would have a minimum of 5 to 7 years of telecom experience.

 

Day to Day Experience: 

 

This person will be responsible for the design and development of test cases, test tools, and test scripts for applications, functions and features for mobile phones.  Specific responsibilities include evaluation of requirements, determining the testing required, reviewing existing test cases for completeness, updating existing test cases, generating new test cases, and executing test cases.   The person will work independently to analyze requirements and specifications to create test cases and perform testing to verify the functions of phone products.   This person may set up and configure test equipment such as mobile network simulators and protocol analyzers and communicate the results and progress of testing by writing test reports. Up to 20% domestic travel may be required for this position.

R	Experience with methods and tools for analyzing the development and technical characteristics of testing/verification systems

SP	WAP Push verification or development experience
R	OMA Device Management verification or development experience
SP	OMA Client Provisioning verification or development experience
SP	OMA FUMO / FOTA verification or development experience
SP	Proven and trusted ability to communicate efficiently with external customers
SP	Type Approval experience executing conformance and regulatory test cases
P	Experience using Perl or TCL programming language in software development
P	Experience with TCP/UDP, 3GPP, 3GPP2, IMS and  OMA application (WAP, DM) protocols
P	JAVA coding background in a testing role
P	Experience  with testing tools such as ClearQuest, Mercury Quality Center Agilent 8960, Ethereal/WireShark and proprietary phone software loading and logging tools DebugMux, QXDM, QCAT, Snapper.
P	Verification in a cellular information technology (GSM, CDMA or TDMA)
P	Technical understanding of mobile phone applications

 

Education and Experience:

 

Education	Four years engineering degree (BSEE, BSCE, BSCS)
Experience	Five years' experience in software verification or development  of mobile phones; experience with Perl, TCL, Visual Basic, and/or Java development
