Job Title         : Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst/Developer

Location         : Victor, NY (Rochester)

Duration         : 2-3 months

 

Job Description:

Gather Requirements, design, develop, test and tune enterprise class data models, business intelligence universe models and reports against very large warehouse and datamart database systems (hundreds of Terabytes to Petabytes in size), typically running against Netezza, Teradata, federated SQL Server, Exadata or similar database systems.   Models and reports will be developed to suit the needs of various portfolio products, requested product customizations as well as full custom solutions.

 

Job Responsibilities:

·         Develop and maintain MicroStrategy and Cognos metadata models, reports, dashboards and end-user applications.

·         Design, develop and implement high performance BI systems enabling non-technical users to leverage very large data sets for strategic decision-making.

·         Utilize various MicroStrategy and Cognos reporting tools to deliver insights to targeted audiences (e.g., Narrowcast, Web Reporter, Web Analyst, Web Professional, Report Services).

·         Stay up to speed on the latest MicroStrategy and Cognos technologies and facilitate plans to incorporate new features in overall product usage to help leverage the maximum benefit from tool investment.

·         Be involved in full lifecycle development and implementation of standard and custom client BI reporting and analytical services.

·         Develop ad hoc interfaces enabling end-users to generate their own reports.

·         Perform extensive QA on data and MicroStrategy/Cognos reports.

·         Resolve user-identified functional and technical issues relating to Data Mart and MicroStrategy and/or Cognos reporting services.

·         Create, test and troubleshoot reports

·         Participation in an Agile BI project team approach to ensure DW/BI is delivering business value.

·         Engage with business champions to ensure BI/DW activities addresses their business requirements.

·         Management of BI/DW related project tasks and activities, including resource coordination, status tracking, and communication of project progress.

·         Ensure project activities are results oriented, performance driven and conform to best practices and process. Employ analytical, conceptual, and creative thinking skills to improve the overall business experience using the tools developed.

·         Effectively communicate both written and orally within the business and with customers.

·         Mentor/coach others in a team environment.

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong Data Modeling and Dimensional Modeling experience.
  • At least 8 years of Business Intelligence / Data Warehouse experience
  • 1+ years experience architecting, designing, and developing complex Data Warehouse / Reporting environments experience using MicroStrategy, Cognos or Business Objects.
  • 2+ years database experience - Oracle 10g or higher, federated MS SQL Server or Sybase, Teradata, Netezza or Exadata experience.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to manage large, complex data warehousing environments
  • Experience with ETL processes and methodologies would be a plus
  • Experience with .NET or Java development a plus
  • Independent thinker and self motivated.
  • Be able to lead others and have strong communications skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem identification and solving skills.
