Location : New York , NY..
Duration : 6 months (Potential Contract to Hire) 
Rate/hr : $50/hr.
Interview type : Phone and in person interviews required

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Commercial website application design and development (min 3 years)

• Working to ensure projects are completed on time/budget

• Participating in client meetings when appropriate and be able to discuss technical issues in a clear and positive way to non-technical audiences.

• Keeping fully abreast of latest thinking in all areas of web development

QUALIFICATIONS

• Outstanding Ruby on Rails skills

• PHP (nice to have)

• iOS (nice to have)

• Android (nice to have)

 • HTML, Javascript, and CSS experience

• Thorough knowledge of website accessibility guidelines and data protection practices

• Cross-browser compatibility

• Rails-brand Ajax (assuming comfort with Prototype/Scriptaculous and jQuery)

• Good understanding of HTTP (requests and headers, statuses, HTTPS, etc)

• Experience with web/app/db server setups (Apache/Passenger a bonus)

• Development concepts: REST, MVC, SCM (git)

• Agile or Scrum development methodology experience

• Collaborative software products development

• Deep Unix/Linux skills

• Basic Java skills

• Background in Object Oriented development

• Willing to work flexible hours and with remote engineering staff outside headquarters

 • Organized and detail-oriented and understands the importance of rapid issue resolution

• Team player, can deal with high-stress situations
