Position: Senior Word Press Developer/ SOFTWARE ENGINEER
Location: New York City , NY
Duration: 6 Months +
JOB DESCRIPTION
We're looking for experienced contractors (3-5 years) to provide to work as part of the team, you will investigate, design, & develop software that brings new functionality, increased stability, & enhanced scalability premium themes, hosting, plugins, & other products for Wired.com. This is a highly motivated & cooperative team, relying on the abilities of all its members to develop innovation & robust solutions. Some of the specific duties include:
* Upgrading blogs to the newest version WP 3.2
· Designing & developing extensible themes & plugins for Word Press, which follow best development practices & methodologies
· Developing & reviewing software requirements, designs, & unit test plans
· Implementing your designs with high-quality, high-performance, maintainable code
· Debugging & troubleshooting code QA process
· Refactoring existing code bases to meet standards
REQUIREMENTS : KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
The candidate should have demonstrated experience in software development & design. Applicants must meet the following core criteria:
· Expert in Word Press plugin & theme development, with an understanding of the Word Press community & recent developments of Word Press
· Strong experience in AJAX development & debugging, JavaScript, JSP, Jquery.
· Knowledge of design principles & development best practices, such as DRY, MVC, SoC
· Working experience with multisite capabilities of Word Press 3.0+
· Experienced in agile software development methodologies
· Experience with web hosting implementations, including the LAMP stack, & internet-specific protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, SSL/TLS, SSH, SMTP, IMAP, etc.
· Experience working with PHP frameworks such as CodeIgnitor, Symfony, Zend Framework is desirable. Enterprise experience with Version control tools is also desired.
· Highly organized, motivated, & execution-oriented
· Must be a self-starter who is comfortable working in a highly technical environment
· Demonstrated ability for continuous learning, creativity, & problem solving
Any of the following would be an asset :
· Experience developing & integrating e-commerce solutions
· An artist's eye for design & experience with Adobe products
· A passion for pragmatic software design
· An interest in test-driven development
· Experience with Dynamic Scripting languages.
