Position: Database Administrator - Oracle/Sybase************************* San Antonio ,TX

Database Administrator - Oracle/Sybase.

 

The candidate must possess the Skills and should be able to perform the below job description.

 

Job Description:

 • Owning, tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests, fulfilling requests and resolving incidents within SLAs, reviewing service related reports (e.g: database backups, maintenance, monitoring) on a daily basis to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs, responding to database related alerts and escalations and working with database engineering to come up with strategic solutions to recurring problems.
• Works closely with Application DBA team to ensure alignment of data management initiatives
• Performs daily monitoring and general administration of all Production Database instances
• Plans and installs database instances including software, disc and table space allocations
• Ensures that adequate preventive, detective and corrective controls are in place to provide for data integrity with minimal effect on the delivery of such data
• Monitors and maintains Enterprise Production Databases, ensures availability and integrity including backup and archiving, database recovery, disaster recovery and system response time
• Maintains security including creation of user files, user access administration (i.e. database grants) and monitors and reports security violations
• Evaluates and implements new software versions to maintain optimal delivery levels
• Maintains relations with vendor support to ensure quick response to problems
• Performs capacity planning and projects growth of disc space usage and server capacity
• Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
• Performs upgrades and patching of databases on a regular basis
• Performs other job duties as assigned

 

 

Skills: Oracle/Sybase DBA, RMAN tool, DB Artisan, Oracle Grid Control.
