Position:Sr. Java Developer with Hadoop

Location: Chicago,IL

Duration:6+ Months

 

Hadoop Software Engineer PURPOSE OF JOB Responsible for designing/developing map reduce jobs to process huge amounts of data, participating in all stages of software development including analyzing, designing, programming, debugging, and modifying software enhancements and/or new products for internal or customer applications. Implement specialized algorithms within Hadoop paradigm. Complete documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance. Interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications and assist with systems integration. GENERAL CONSULTANT ACCOUNTABILITIES • Software design and review; software development of application or system components • Requirements definition and analysis; unit testing of developed code • Investigation and root cause analysis of software and system defects • Understand the technical aspects of the products used to support the configuration management activities of the development process • Adapt configuration management tools for the complex needs of the development teams or the management of the development process JOB SPECIFICATIONS • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Management Information Systems, MSc/PhD preferred • Working expertise in HDFS file system and Map reduce jobs is a must. Ability to design, program, and debug Hadoop Java code is a must. Working knowledge of associated Hadoop tools such as HBase, • Hive, Sqoop, and PIG is a plus. • 5-7 years of Java and OO skills • Proficient in SQL • Proficient in Linux ; familiar with Windows • Proficient in one Configuration Management tool (e.g., Subversion, Mercurial, Git, CVS) • GIS Domain knowledge is a plus. • Agile experience is a plus. • Excellent oral and written communication skills
