Responsibilities:
IT Car Sales was created about a year ago as a vertical team. It is classified as a Business class (B-class) solution to support Car Sales business. In this class, IT Car Sales will have
• More portable development methods
• Nimble/agile teams and processes
• Easily deployable, highly scalable applications
• Development environments that enable rapid deployment
IT Car Sales will be utilizing Standard Enterprise Open Architecture for infrastructure needs. This infrastructure built on Tomcat and ORACLE stack leverages a combination of homegrown software to provide provisioning of hardware and software. In addition to the typical application development duties, IT Car Sales will be responsible for managing the following components in this new environment which otherwise would have been supported and maintained by several Infrastructure teams.
• Data Management (create schemas, databases, tables, tuning, stored procedures etc.)
• Configuration (source management – merge, check conflicts, build scripts, package the code, deploy to different environments including production)
• Middleware (manage and configure middleware software, configure connection pools, clustering, messaging, load balancing)
• Back Ups (back up and restore)
• Operational Recovery (configure application and/or database components, re-install applications)
• Security (ftp connectivity etc.)
These additional responsibilities open up significant opportunity and learning experience for Engineers at all levels to gain a broader perspective and deeper knowledge of designing and developing applications.
Qualifications:
• Proficiency in
o Object oriented concepts, analysis and design
o Core Java, J2EE
o Struts, Hibernate, Spring, Eclipse, XML
o HTML, Java Script, CSS
• Good knowledge in
o Build scripts, package the code and deploy to different environments, including production
o Integration of modules, Quality Assurance testing
o Database – create schemas, databases, tables, table definitions, tune SQL statements, transaction management, stored procedures
o Application servers like Weblogic or similar products
o Oracle or similar database
Additional competencies preferred but not required:
• Experience with source management tools – merge, check conflicts, create branches of codes
• Advanced skills in Web Logic - create domains, configure connection pools, clustering, messaging and load balancing
• Be able to write code to handle large volumes of data, use system traces and debugging tools for performance tuning, stress testing
• Exposure to cloud computing – Tomcat, MySQL
• Advanced Knowledge of NT/Unix/Linux operating systems – work with shell scripts
• Code to process data in batch
• Schedule jobs, Analyze and monitor scheduled jobs (Tivoli work scheduler)
• Experience with DB2, RPG and CL programming
