DB2 Developer / Newark NJ (Locals Preferred) / 3-6 months contract

Position     :     DB2 Developer

Location    :     Newark NJ (Locals Preferred)

Duration   :     3-6 months contract

JOB DESCRIPTION

The client is looking for a DB2 Developer and the requirements are listed below:

Responsibilities include:

1.            Create and maintain database objects in DB2 such as tables, indexes, aliases, views, stored procedures

2.            Build and Configure database instances

3.            Performance tuning of instance, database, and SQL queries

4.            Find bottlenecks in performance pertaining to database scope

5.            Work with the groups to determine how system changes and upgrades will impact existing and new systems

6.            Work in both a production and support environment role with regular interaction with the development and support teams to understand database requirements and support needs.

 

Required skills

 DB2 UDB for LUW in Unix/AIX/Linux/Windows environment

1.            Expertise in writing shell scripts and perl scripts and debugging existing scripts

2.            5+ years of database experience in DB2 environment

3.            Experience in SQL tuning and database design

4.            Troubleshooting experience using IBM tools and snapshot utilities

5.            Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

6.            Takes initiative

7.            Strong attention to detail
