Summary
Our client is embarking on redesigning their web platform, and need a Web Architect to consult on this project. The Web Architect is a critical technical resource responsible for designing and implementing a cutting-edge architecture for a high-performing, scalable and maintainable web application platform to support consumer business and its business partners. As a hands-on technical position, this role requires a strong team player with knowledge and experience in development languages and frameworks (such as Java, J2EE, Ruby, Rails, C# and .NET) and web technologies, as well as understand how to develop secure, reusable code. The Web Architect will exhibit a strong desire to meet delivery criteria on schedule and with high quality in a fast paced development environment.
Role Responsibilities
• Design the web application architecture
o Analyze and document the current application architecture
o Lead the design of the next-generation target architecture
o Includes a new generation user experience on multitude of browsers and mobile devices
o Develop and lead implementation of an application integration strategy including tools, process and roadmap to integrate the legacy applications
o Ensure adherence to Client's principles and standards
• Work with onshore and offshore teams to perform code reviews and design showcases
• Provide prototypes to the business to help refine end product
• Has a vision for the future state platform and would provide input to enterprise direction and strategy
• Has insight into industry trends and communicates vision to guide architectural strategy
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional, remote teams.
o Provides framework for reusable software components
o Communicate and mentor others in the use of industry best practices
o Performs code reviews
• Lead by example to create a positive inclusive and respectful working environment
• Work closely with the leadership of the business leveraging technology that supports product vision and improving operational efficiencies
• Manage risk identification and risk mitigation strategies associated with the architecture
Qualifications
Required:
****Must have performed a re-platform****
• 15+ years of object oriented software development experience
• 5+ years in developing/architecting consumer facing web applications
• Experience designing, developing and/or implementing applications for multiple browsers and mobile devices
• Demonstrated strong consistency with attention to detail
• Innovative and passionate about technology
• Demonstrated success working with business stakeholders to explore and refine requirements
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with ability exercise mature judgment
• 5+ years of software architecture experience
• A demonstrated history of extraordinary technical or technology leadership contributions
• Demonstrated ability to anticipate technology evolutions
• Excellent soft skills: communication, abstraction, negotiation, and influence
• Experience building consensus across multiple teams and working with teams in disparate geographic locations
• Extensive experience in multiple development languages and technologies
• Familiarity with software usability concepts
• Demonstrated skills in developing mission critical, high-quality applications which are highly distributed
• Experience in continuously improving the customer experience
• Able to drive multiple projects with a service oriented 'customer first' mindset
• Meticulous in completing tasks on schedule, with high quality, and with attention to detail
• Strong team player yet self motivated and able to make progress with limited direction
• Ability to work in a very fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
• Strong communication skills, actively seeking input of others
• Experience in developing complex solutions
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and projects
• Long track record of building innovative technology solutions
• M.S./PhD in computer science or related degree / experience
Preferred:
• Experience in Java J2EE Technologies
• Experience with communications between distributed components using JMS, ESB, Web Services and REST API.
• Experience in *nix operating systems
• Experience in Web Development technologies like html5, jsp, javascript and css
• Experience in Agile or Extreme Programming
• Experience in Enterprise Database modeling using MySQL.
• Use of software engineering tools
• Experience in developing highly secure applications that meet the security needs of an enterprise ecommerce application.
• Experience in change management and configuration management
