GENERAL CONSULTANT ACCOUNTABILITIES
Administers, maintains, develops and implements policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the company database. Implements data models and database designs, data access and table maintenance codes; resolves database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues. May require a bachelor's degree in a related area and 5+ years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision; typically reports to a manager. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE
- Under general supervision, coordinates and administers matters related to relational databases, including database documentation, upgrades, operational guidelines and protection.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Functions)
- Perform schema management, database configuration, space management, performance tuning and optimization
- Create database queries, indexes and stored procedures with a high degree of complexity. Assist and educate staff members on the creation of these procedures.
- Monitor and tune databases to ensure system availability.
- Monitors database and system storage space.
- Provides initial problem determination and data collection.
- Maintain documentation of team standards, guideline and best practices.
- Maintain Oracle & PostgreSQL RDBMS software installations on Linux platforms
- Mentor junior DBA staff members
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Undergraduate degree, 8 yrs. relevant work experience or equivalent combination education and relevant work experience.
- Oracle Certified Professional certification (or currently pursuing certification)
- Strong SQL command knowledge
- Strong architectural knowledge of Oracle 10g / 11g
- Solid experience with Oracle ASM, Data Guard, RAC, RMAN
- Advanced programming skills in Shell Scripting and PL/ SQL
- 5 yrs. DBA experience
- 5 yrs. working knowledge of Oracle
- Developed ability to identify and resolve database related issues
- Developed analytical and problem-solving skills
- Developed professional demeanor and customer-focused orientation
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
