Role: SQL Database Administrator

 
Need: US Citizens and Green card Holders

Location: NJ (Local or nearby, must be able to do face to face after phone screen.)

Duration: 6 months contract to higher (Full time)

Rate: $DOE/hr C2C

Job description: 

·    Monitor and troubleshoot all production, development, and test databases. 

·     Perform service restoration in event of issue including working with vendors to ensure timely response to problems.   

·      Serve as point of contact to internal and external customers through problem resolution 

·      Perform ongoing operational activities, problem management, user assistance and training as necessary 

·     Monitor and ensure adequate capacity 

·      Perform ongoing database and application performance tuning activities. 

·      Provide off-hours support as required to perform job functions and ensure service delivery 

Application Support 

·     Gain understanding of applications that utilize databases and monitor and troubleshoot application issues that impact database performance and stability and overall service delivery. 

·       Perform application upgrades and patching as appropriate.

·       Work with other areas of IT to troubleshoot and resolve service issues. 

Database Design 

·       Plan, design, and develop databases including schema and table layouts, underlying disk configuration, backup process, high availability and all other configurations. 

·      Understand customer requirements and define initial and ongoing capacity needs. 

·     Remain current on emerging technologies and possible application at NFI 

·      Develop and test data recovery strategies and perform data restoration activities as required. 

·        Identify on-going improvement opportunities. 

Database deployment 

·          Install and configure databases in support of design 

·           Create and manage linked servers in a heterogeneous environment.

·           Perform ongoing upgrades and patches as required 

· Develop, review, and support SQL code, stored procedures, Open Query statements, triggers, etc. 

·  Perform production review of in house written code and assist developers in optimization and troubleshooting 

·   Perform production code elevations following change management procedures 

Security Awareness 

·   Understanding of security impacts of actions and adherence to company guidelines 

·    Assist in development and modification of security guidelines 

·   Act as advisor to internal and external customers on security issues 

General Job Functions 

·      Assist in development of departmental policies and procedures 

·     Define and assist in deployment of Process Improvements 

·     Assist in continuous development of Support Services procedures and staff

Job Related & Physical Requirements:

·      Attention to service excellence and detail. 

·       Excellent analytic, communication, interpersonal skills, and customer relation skills. 

·        Excellent troubleshooting skills. 

·         Strong interpersonal skills – ability to communicate with all levels of customers, vendors, and IT resources

·          Develop and maintain network documentation 

 Technology: 
SQL 2000/2005/2008 
Sql Server in a Microsoft Windows Clustering. 
MS, Oracle, and 3rd party administrative tools such as Toad, Sql Server Management Studio / Enterprise Manager, and command line functions

·       Physical Labor Requirements include ability to lift and rack network equipment
