SQL DBA / Parsippany, NJ / 3+ Months....(10 to 15 years of Microsoft SQL Server database administration experience)

My client needs an SQL DBA to start IMMEDIATELY!


 Location: Parsippany, NJ

Duration: 3+ months

 Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain SQL Server 70, 2000, 2005, and 2008 databases running on Windows 2000, 2005, and 2008 in DEV/QA/Production environments.
  • Perform daily database administration activities including monitoring, schema management, space management, performance tuning, SQL tuning, database backup and recovery, disaster recovery, data replication, and database refresh.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions on database and application architecture, database performance, integrity, security and availability to management, development and production support teams.
  • Provide support and ensure that all critical database problems are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate and recommend software/hardware products that enhance performance monitoring and database operating functionality.
  • Coordinate with 3rd-party application vendors to ensure support contracts remain current and specification and procedures are met and complied with.
  • Report databases downtime, and interruptions, as well as document root-causes and recovery/solutions at weekly SOX meetings.

 Experience and skills:

  • 10 to 15 years of Microsoft SQL Server database administration experience, including MS DTS, SQU Server Analysis Services. SQL Server clustering, replication, and database mirroring are required.
  • Experience with Oracle EnterpriseOne (J.D. Edwards) ERP software.
  • Broad DBMS technical background and mastery of the enterprise IT infrastructure running across multiple hardware and software platforms in order to oversee technical aspects of database-related projects and tasks, including Windows 2000, 2003, and 2008.
  • Ability to perform DBA activities that span multiple phases of database application life cycle including data modeling to physical design, instance tuning, schema management, space management, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, data replication, database refresh, and
  • SQL programming and tuning.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining complex SQL stored procedures and queries under source code control.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence using Ascential Datastage and MicroStrategy.
  • Experience using tools such as SQL Enterprise Manager.
  • Experience with Microsoft SSIS, SSRS, and SharePoint.
  • Expected to respond and monitor Database message alerts 24x7.
  • Expected to work some nights and weekends during special projects and production rollouts.
  • Ability to present clear, concise, complete and understandable documentation on all database configuration, administration and disaster-recovery procedures.
  • Broad knowledge of IT principles, concepts and methods in order to be efficient in resolving the technical issues involved with assigned projects.
  • Ability to master the Enterprise IT Architecture and ensure all activities are in compliance.
  • Skill in communicating both orally and in writing in order to provide requited reports and technical advice.
  • Skill in providing technical advice within a team environment and the ability to coordinate with a diverse team of IT professionals and end-users.
  • Demonstrated project management skills to plan, coordinate, and track the implementation of database-related project plans.
