Location: Bothell, WA

Duration: 3 Months Contract (Could go longer)

Job Description:

Primary focus on VMware installs for the new servers.  Looking for a VMware admin to:

Install ESXi (on HP DL and Dell R series servers) configure MGMT IP and NIC teaming

1.   Manual install of ESXi through iLO/iDRAC

2.   Once installed and IP/NIC teaming done, the systems are reachable via PowerCLI scripts for additional configuration

1.   There are PowerCLI scripts in place for these tasks.  Familiarity with PowerCLI would be helpful though.

1.   Use HPe OneView and Dell OME for additional configuration.  There are XML templates and scripted build processes already defined for this.  Basic OneView and Open Manage Enterprise usage will be needed, and shouldn't be a problem for someone to pick up at that level.  Any knowledge beyond that is a bonus.

 

This person should primarily be a vmware/system administrator.  Familiarity with PowerCLI, HPe OneView, and Dell OME would be good to have but not absolutely necessary.

The resource will be installing ESXi onto new servers.  The expectation is that many of these can be run in parallel – the ability to efficiently multitask is needed.  For example, a T-Mo administrator might do 10 of these at a time, with multiple consoles open, flipping back and forth between windows to get all machines installed and configured as needed before moving on to the next set of machines.  We might not expect quite the same level of efficiency as we won't have the same familiarity with the process, but this resource should be able to streamline processes and multitask well.

The total number of servers that will need to be done is somewhere around 500, spread across 4 or 5 different environments. operations will have these servers racked and cabled in stages.  Once they are racked and cabled and turned over, they would be ready to work on.

Would prefer to have someone onsite the whole time rather than remote.  Ideally the servers will be racked and cabled in succession so that there are always servers available to work on.  In this case, someone could be full time for the duration (~10-12 weeks) working on these servers.
