Performance Solution Architect

Location: Framingham, MA

Duration: 6 months+

 

Specific responsibilities and skills:

The Performance Solution Architect should have experience doing hands on performance engineering, and leading a team that that did performance engineering.

Experience with the following technologies, products, and domains is necessary:

·         Performance engineering, including performance testing, tuning, and scalability analysis

Experience with the following technologies, products, and domains is desirable:

·         IBM pSeries, AIX, Intel blades, and Linux, and virtualization

·         HP LoadRunner or similar products

·         Mainframe software and databases (COBOL, CICS, DB2, IMS, VSAM)

·         Migrating applications from a mainframe to a distributed system

·         Data integration using file transfer (IBM FTE) and messaging (IBM MQ, Message Broker)

·         Batch scheduling (CA ESP)

·         Availability, backup, disaster recovery (EMC TimeFinder, EMC RecoverPoint)

·         Single sign on (CA SiteMinder)

·         Reporting and business intelligence

·         Retail planning and forecasting

·         Certain Oracle software packages: RPAS, RDF, MSM, Site Hub, and DRM

 

General Responsibilities:

·         Create solution architectures that meet business requirements and non-functional requirements (Performance, Integration, Security, Availability, etc.)

·         Create solution architectures that follow business and technology strategies

·         Collaborate on solutions that address the needs of key stakeholders from the business, application development, infrastructure, and operations areas

·         Help create the documentation for, and participate in, the architecture reviews of the proposed solution

·         Build consensus around the proposed solution

·         Provide input into key aspects of the business case and work effort for a specific project

·         Work with infrastructure engineering teams and SMEs in support of solution designs

·         Ensure compliance with all architecture directions and standards, and assist with waiver requests when necessary

·         Participate in the identification of new technologies as well as the development, review and approval of enterprise architectural standards, processes, frameworks and guiding principles

·         Create and maintain architecture models

·         Evaluate alternative options based on both technical advantages and risk, cost, and time

·         Participate in buy vs. build decisions

·         Analyze the current architecture to identify weaknesses and opportunities for improvement

·         Participate in architecture and IT governance processes

·         Drive efficiency through retirement and replacement of legacy systems

·         Perform systems analysis and design, data modeling, performance modeling, integration planning, technology and product selection as appropriate

·         Research and evaluate software and hardware technologies, products, and methodologies
