Position Title : Teradata DBA
Location : West Chester, PA
Duration : Long Term
Relevant Experience (Yrs)
• BE in Computer Science/ Engineering, or equivalent work experience in Teradata Database Administration.
• At least 7-8 years' experience.
• Teradata Certified Master.
Technical/Functional Skills :
• 7+ years of IT experience and 5-7 years of DBA experience.
• Minimum 7 years work experience in managing and administrating large databases.
• Solid knowledge of data warehouse architecture, dimension modeling, and metadata management.
• High degree of skill with database commands and Teradata utilities.
• The DBA will also work closely with the Manager, Application Support & Database Administration, DW Architect, Data Integration and Business Intelligence solution teams to design and develop data structures that support the Client National Data warehouse.
• The DBA must have an in depth knowledge of the Teradata database architecture and be proficient in managing Operational Data Stores, normalized data structures as well as star schema designs.
Total Experience Required: 7+ Years
Roles & Responsibilities :
• Monitoring and administration of Teradata Databases 13.0.
• Administration, Backup and retention policy implementation. Creating and Setting up of new Backup and restore jobs using Netbackup media and TARA server.
• Contact to Teradata Support to resolve issues like performance and product support. Following up with vendor on the Teradata Hardware Alerts.
• Setup and configure Replication, Mirroring, DR on the Servers using Teradata data mover and multi system manager.
• Manage performance database report (PDCR) load for DBQL purging and performance reporting.
• Scripting for automation of tasks.
• Managing Database Jobs, parameter tuning.
• Troubleshooting database related issues.
• Analyzing/Validating Database segments.
• Housekeeping activities, Health, Performance monitoring.
• Support development team, Test team, fixing daily development backup job issues, Client Installation support on Users Desktops.
• Ensures that mission critical databases and devices are available and operating year-round, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, required off-hours and on-call rotational support.
• In depth knowledge of Teradata utilities such as Multiload, Fastexport, BTEQ, Fastload, Teradata Parallel Transporter.
• Maintains data standards, creates database documentation methods and procedures including data standards, policies, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary ('metadata').
• Application Outages Handling.
• Security administration using roles and profiles mechanism, Create user, Grant permission, role and privileges.
• Work with internal/external auditor to produce various database report as per SOX requirement.
• Setup alert, monitoring using Teradata Viewpoint.
• Create User Database, Create Tables/views, Procedure/and macros.
• Teradata object migration, Migration of code from Dev/QA/Test/Production.
• Experience using Teradata Viewpoint portal and TASM.
• Hands on experience on performance tuning of complex SQLs with Teradata.
• Data modeling with Power designer, Erwin experience a plus.
• ETL Tool Data Stage Informatica.
Other Skills :
• Should have excellent communication and client handling skills.
• Must be a team player.
• Experience in coordinating with multiple teams and offshore team.
• Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned.
• Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance.
• Education: BS/B.E. in Computer Science/ Engineering.
