POSITION: Oracle Application DBA
St. Louis, MO or San Ramon, CA.
Duration:6 Months
Job Description
Application DBA Support
o Code Review Participation
o SQL Tuning exercises with Development staff
o SQL Reviews with Development staff
o Database design tasks during application design
o User management
o Standards Adherence
§ Maintain property security models within the database
§ Maintain proper naming methods within the application designs
· Performance Tuning
o Regular performance checking of instances
o Recommend changes to environment/objects for performance considerations
o Investigate any performance issue in relation to the database with the ability to investigate external influences on the database
o Review current database design for potential improvements
· Production Support
o Participate in any Triage calls as necessary
o Participate in capacity planning efforts
o Participate in the monitoring of system resources in determining future capacity needs
Required Skills:
· Basic Skills
o Knowledgeable in database design principles
o Ability to analyze a current situation for problem determination
o Solid communication skills that provide the ability to:
§ Communicate current status of critical situations in a concise meaningful manner
§ Coordinate efforts of multiple teams and team members to complete specific work items
· 5 years experience working with common Oracle Database Administrative tools – for example but not limited to
o ER-Win
o Latest Oracle Database version
o Toad (development and DBA use)
o ADDM/AWR (producing and interpreting)
