Job Description:
One of my clients in Cambridge, MA is looking for a Data Center Operations Technician/Analyst for a 6+ month project.  The role is comprised of monitoring Backup/Restore jobs using CommVault and Physical Tape handling for storage at Iron Mountain.  This candidate must possess at least 3 years experience in a Data Center environment with the following qualifications: 

• Experience in Windows 2003 required and Windows 2008 (suggested) operating system
• Experience troubleshooting multi-tier environments
• Experience performing back-ups and restores using CommVault or some other Data Center Backup Management software
• CommVault SysAdmin cert a strong plus
• Some experience with Linux and UNIX operating systems a plus
• Mac experience a plus

Responsibilities and tasks include the following:

• CommVault monitoring: Monitor the CommVault backup system for any alerts and ensure the smooth backup of the scheduled jobs
• CommVault alert mails (Scratch Tapes, Critical alerts, etc): Daily status check of CommVault/storage library and communicate on the number of scratch tapes, critical jobs running, pending and about critical errors
• CommVault license monitoring: Monitor the CommVault license (Windows, Linux, and Solaris) every week and alert the CommVault admin if it is below the threshold limit
• Backup/ CommVault Administration (Cambridge, Kendall and future Data Center Location): Troubleshooting of CommVault backup issues, backup/restoration requests
• Tape management  (Cambridge & Kendall and future Data Center Location): Label, organize and ship daily, monthly, yearly and telecom (weekly-Thursday) tapes to offsite
• Documentation: Documentation of any process change and new processes
